Evan Flaxman, JD, MBA, is a Colorado-based professional with a multidisciplinary background in finance, law, teaching, mentorship, athletics, and community service. His experience includes academic leadership at the University of Florida, public-interest legal service, university-level finance instruction, competitive tennis and motorsports, and sustained mentoring and community involvement.
At the University of Florida, Evan graduated cum laude in finance and earned multiple 4.0 Dean’s List terms. He later served as Head Teaching Assistant for FIN 3408 under Dr. Joel Houston, overseeing all tutoring and exam preparation for approximately 1,500 students per semester. Before each exam was administered, Evan reviewed it for accuracy and was required to demonstrate complete mastery of the material.
Commercial Development and Real Estate
Evan’s professional experience includes commercial real estate development, finance, and sales. Over the course of his career, he has sold more than $50 million in real estate, including projects he developed and large ranch properties that he prepared, positioned, and brought to market. His work required evaluating opportunities, structuring transactions, coordinating development activities, managing complex negotiations, and carrying projects through to successful disposition.
Leadership and University Service
At the University of Florida, Evan was elected to serve on the Student Conduct Committee and was later appointed to chair the student portion of the committee. Working alongside faculty members, he participated in hearings involving matters ranging from academic integrity violations to serious student misconduct. The role required discretion, impartial judgment, careful evaluation of evidence, and an understanding of procedural fairness.
Legal Education and Public-Interest Service
During law school, Evan advanced through a competitive selection process to the final round of the University of Florida’s annual moot court competition. He and his team presented a complete case from start to finish before all seven justices of the Florida Supreme Court in a specially built courtroom at UF Law. As part of his curriculum, Evan also completed a public-interest internship through the Family Law Services Center, assisting women affected by domestic violence with protective orders, custody-related matters, and related legal services.
Teaching, Coaching and Mentorship
Evan is fluent in Spanish and has used his bilingual skills in educational settings, including teaching GED coursework in Spanish. As Head Teaching Assistant for finance at the University of Florida, he was responsible for all tutoring and exam preparation for approximately 1,500 students per semester. His broader teaching and mentoring experience includes instructing the highest-level group at the University of Florida Tennis Academy and serving for four years as a Mountain Mentor in Summit County, Colorado. He is now extending that experience into bilingual tutoring and individualized educational support.
Athletics and Motorsports
Evan’s athletic background includes competitive tennis at American Heritage, where he became the school’s youngest No. 1 player and helped the team reach the state championship. He later joined the University of Florida men’s tennis program as a freshman walk-on in 1992 and was part of the program during consecutive NCAA individual-title seasons. In motorsports, Evan competed with the Porsche Owners Club, winning a Racers Clinic event and recording the Fastest Time of the Day on both Saturday and Sunday, achievements later documented in Velocity magazine.
